Zach Taylor - MADD
Zach Taylor was a member of the Wade Hampton High School cross country team back in the year 2000. Zach and several other boys from the cross country team were running along side the road one afternoon when tragedy struck. A drunk driver had veered off the side of the road and struck several of the boys. Some of the boys were critically injured. While the boys were in the hospital, law enforcement authorities followed leads to find the hit and run driver. After some time, they were able to trace the hit and run vehicle back to the owner and place him under arrest. The man driving the vehicle had a long history of drunk driving and had also been convicted of felony DUI due to a fatality he caused in Florida. You might think it would be easy to keep these repeat offenders off the road. Tragically, it is very difficult to keep these individuals off our highways. Zach Taylor made a complete recovery. Today, he is a happy, healthy, young man with a bright future. Fueled by the tragedy, Zach's dad took this important message to the community as a leader in our local M.A.D.D. organization. In honor of Zach and his precious life, I gave this drawing to Zach and his family.
