EDM #60 - Draw an automobile
I found this car on a bike ride across the state of South Carolina (in the low country) several years ago. It was only a matter of time before I decided to draw it. We went by it again this past year on our way back from the beach. The owner must not have moved it at all because small trees were growing up through the front fender.

Jacques-Yves Cousteau
Jacques-Yves Cousteau (June 11, 1910 - June 25, 1997) was a French naval officer, explorer, ecologist, and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water. Cousteau was born in Saint André de Cubzac, France and died in Paris, France. Cousteau is generally known in France as le commandant Cousteau ("Commander Cousteau"). Worldwide, he was commonly known as Jacques Cousteau. Quote: From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free.

Millard Fuller Celebration of Life
I had the honor of creating this illustration for the Fuller Center for Housing. The Fuller Center (http://fullercenter.org/) will be hosting a celebration of the life for Habitat for Humanity founder Millard Fuller on March 14-15 in Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Fuller passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2009. His vision and work with thousands of volunteers built 300,000 houses for more than 1.5 million people since 1976.

The Ice House
The Ice House was a drawing I did back in 1983 when I had just gotten out of art school.
I drew many of the houses in the historic district of Greenville, SC. The "ice house" was built from the stones of the old ice storage building in Greenville. Ice was delivered to homes and businesses by wagon in the days before refrigeration.
Here’s some information on ice harvesting that was done in those early days:

Tindale Ave - Greenville, SC
This drawing was a commission I did during the Christmas of 2000. This was supposed to be a surprise, so I tried to go unnoticed as I took my photos of the home. I was told the drawing brought tears to the eyes of the recipient. It's a bonus to get that kind of feedback, but I don't always get to hear the end result.

Home in Greenville, SC - 1983
This is one of several pen and ink commissions I drew nearly 30 years ago.
I don't even want to say how much I sold these for back then.
I was just glad to be able to make some money with my art.
These drawings were done in the McDaniel Ave area of Greenville, SC in 1983.
